| June 02 2009 | Washington racers have experienced an almost unbelievable FOUR consecutive weekends of warm, dry racing. We hope you are still out there enjoying this marvelous riding weather! Tentative calculations for the 2009 WSBA BARR are now available, and they include the Glennwood RR and 1.5x points for the Wenatchee Omnium overall. So far this year, only Senior category races have been part of the BARR. Keep racing, Masters! Your big weekend is coming in Spokane on the final weekend of June. The full schedule is on the BARR page. |

| May 01 2009 | The 2009 WSBA Rider Rankings have been updated. See how you stack up before the State Championship RR! This calculation required all of the various combined categories from this season's racing so far to be mapped to a single category. The rule we followed is this: if categories were combined, we scored you up. For example, Masters Men category from the Frostbite TT and Tour de Dung RRs were scored as Masters A. We consider this ranking system to be a bonus to go with your good results and consistent racing. It is not intended to be a heated contest. There are no prizes. That being said, we like them to be as accurate possible. You can contact Rob Whitacre of GC Racing with questions or issues. |

| Apr 30 2009 | The first Senior State Championship event for 2009 approaches, with the Glenwood Road Race this Saturday, May 2nd. It is followed immediately by the Longbranch RR, a course that has hosted several state championships in years past, and this year is offering WA Cup points. Results from both events are being combined to offer omnium prizes for the weekend. That's a lot of prestige on the line in one weekend, so please refer to this quote from our own Washington racer, Gin Optic's Galen Erickson (taken from the Publisher's Notes in April's Competitor NW magazine): “Let us say athletes, ‘When I train, let it be an act of self elevation, not self validation. Let it be for enjoyment, not obligation. And if I win, let it not be a victory over my fellow competitors but a victory over my own demons.’” So go have fun and race your bike! |
| Apr 6 2009 | Welcome to Spring in Washington, where proper riding weather has finally arrived! Doesn't it feel great to be in shape when the good weather hits? It's a fantastic payback for sticking to your training during those long, wet, cold winter months, which hopefully you did! Those who tested their spring legs out in eastern Washington last weekend in the Frozen Flatlands Omnium likely saw vibrant sunshine and low winds. What a fine way to kick off a season of stage racing! The dry surfaces and short sleeve temps are just in time for the first big weekend of criterium racing coming up, starting with Volunteer Park on Saturday, followed immediately by the Brad Lewis Memorial (a.k.a. Boat Street) on Easter Sunday. Come get yer cornering on! Hopefully everyone who squeezed their registration into the rapidly filling Tour of Walla Walla is getting ready for the big event in two weeks, where Category 3 riders will now be required to start racing on Friday for the first time. Should be an epic weekend of good, clean racing! Hope to see you out there! |

| Feb 25 2009 | With the first TT racers already out of the block this year, the Washington racing season has officially begun! Congratulations to those riders who completed the Frostbite TT in Everett, and good luck to those heading to the Ice Breaker TT near Auburn this Sunday! The initial round of 2009 race numbers were issued about one week ago after team applications were received and input, so many riders should be picking up their frame and jersey numbers from their team captains. Thanks to Beth Oldroyd for deftly handling the WSBA membership process! Also, GC Racing has provided a handy guide to proper number placement. Learn from others mistakes, or risk missing your result! Have a safe, successful season of racing! The 2009 Road Upgrade Guidance document for the WSBA procedure has been updated to reflect an important change in the USA Cycling rulebook. Please download and read it before requesting an upgrade! |
| Feb 2 2009 | The Washington Cup schedule is posted here. Women's Series pages are updated. |

| Jan 13 2009 | Two big news items to kick off a great New Year for Washington Bike racing! First, this entire website has been updated for 2009! This caps off the first major technology upgrade since the code running behind OBRA's popular site was implemented here in Washington, originally for the calendar and results software. Now we can leverage the full power of the software, so you can expect some new features and an improved overall experience! You can also expect a few broken links here and there, maybe some lost pages. Feel free to point out any obvious defects to webmaster@wsbaracing.com. Second, David Visintainer and Trish Lawrence were able to get the final vote needed to confirm the 2009 WSBA Board at our attorneys office. The following WSBA Board positions have been confirmed for 2009: To Serve a Three Year Term

| Jan 7 2009 | It's time to renew your USA Cycling license and WSBA Membership! There will be no annual licenses for sale at events in 2009, so if you show up without your license or a receipt/authorization to race printed from the USA Cycling web site when you renewed your license for 2009, you will be unable to race (unless you're a cat 4 or cat 5 and purchase a one-day license); no exceptions. When you sign up for your USAC license, don't forget to correctly enter your CLUB (e.g. "Jet City Velo") and TEAM (e.g. "ByrneInvent") name during the registration process. Lastly, if you have any upgrades you want processed prior to renewing, USAC has an on-line form you can submit here. You will need to log in or create an account and paste in your race resume. Results from the last 12 months are eligible to be used. |
