To race in the State of Washington, you need all of the following.
- A racing license from USA Cycling (the national governing body of bicycle racing).
- A WSBA number. Riders are required to present their USA Cycling racing license at registration for each race in order to enter the event. Beginning racers (men cat 5 and women cat 4) may purchase one-day USA Cycling licenses at any race for $10.
- A completed and signed rider release form.
USA CYCLING
You can get your annual racing license by clicking on the USA Cycling logo. You will have the option to register on-line or you can print and mail in your registration form. Print a copy of your receipt and authorization to race if you register on-line. This will serve as your temporary license until the official copy arrives by mail; you cannot race without proof that you have a current license.
WSBA
You can get a WSBA number which will last you all season for an annual fee of $15 (includes two numbers for your jersey and one plastic number for your frame). You can also rent a jersey number on the day of any event for a $10 deposit, $5 of which is refundable when you return your number. Out-of-state racers can rent a WSBA number for $5, all of which is refundable upon return. A rental number may be used only at the event for which it was issued.
Teams are encouraged to register as a group rather than as individual members. Please contact your team manager to find out how your team registration will be handled before registering yourself. Team managers should contact the Membership Coordinator for more information on how to register their team members and they will also need to download the Team 2008 WSBA Application.
Individuals can register with the WSBA using one of these three methods.
- Register on-line using Active.com, just click on the button below. This is the preferred method!
- If you prefer not to register on-line you can download and fill out the Microsoft Excel version of the Individual 2008 WSBA Application [XLS]. You then need to email the completed form to membership [at] wsbaracing [dot] com AND mail a printed copy along with your check and a self-addressed, stamped envelope (so that we can mail you your numbers) to the address on the form. Emailing us the spreadsheet prevents mistakes when entering your information in the WSBA database.
- You can also download and print this PDF version of the Individual 2008 WSBA Application [PDF]. You then need to mail the completed form along with your check and a self-addressed, stamped envelope (so that we can mail you your numbers) to the address on the form.
NOTES
- The self-addressed, stamped envelope must be at least #10 in size and it must have at least $.82 postage (two stamps) on it as there is a surcharge for the plastic frame number.
- LEAD TIME TO RECEIVE YOUR NUMBERS IF YOU MAIL IN YOUR FORM IS 15 DAYS.
- Lead time to receive your numbers if you register on-line is 10 days.
- Annual numbers are NOT sold at events so plan ahead and register before the racing season begins.
Lost Numbers - If you need a replacement frame or jersey number, send a $5 check for each number (frame or jersey) payable to "WSBA" to 15 Comstock Street, Seattle, WA 98109-3212 with a note saying which number you need replaced. Officials can issue fines to riders racing without at least two numbers (two on your jersey - one on each side or one on your jersey and one on your frame). Like jersey numbers, frame numbers should not be altered, especially in an extreme manner.
Release Form
Every athlete is required to fill out a Standard Athlete's Entry and Release Form at every event. If you want to print and fill out your form in advance of the event you can get it here:
